Huch
At the intersection directly in front of my studio house there is a small hollow in the road surface. It is at the level of the small pedestrian island, which seems lost between the constant stream of cars. Every now and then a car touches down when passing this hollow. It is just rare enough to be exciting and just frequent enough to remain exciting. Like a stumble, it interrupts the constant movement, the routine the steady. One begins to wait for this moment - a tension develops.

This glitch, the breakdown in the continuous system sequence that comes as a surprise or that is to be expected, reminds me of a similar phenomenon in the production of knitted surfaces. In knitting the thread enters into a reversible intertwining with itself.
This process has various tension factors: the incoming yarn must be able to enter the loop formation loosely, the resulting growing knitted fabric must be held continuously with weights, and so the individual stitches themselves are also under tension due to the twist of the yarn.
This tension causes them to "run" at the first possible opportunity to release themselves from their self-contained looping. This moment is cruel: it destroys a painstakingly formed surface in seconds and completely silently.
